Operation Protection

    Operation protection is an additional layer of protection that Tencent Cloud provides for sensitive operations. After operation protection is enabled, you will need to complete identity verification before performing sensitive operations.
    A verification code is often used for secondary confirmation when you perform sensitive operations in the console.

    Operation Protection Types

    Operation Protection Type
    Description
    Do not enable
    Secondary verification will not be performed.
    Enable MFA
    MFA device verification supports virtual MFA devices and Universal 2nd Factor (U2F) security keys. For specific settings, see MFA Devices.
    Enable virtual MFA device verification: To perform an operation in the console, you need to enter the MFA dynamic security code on the verification page; otherwise, the operation cannot be performed.
    Enable U2F security key verification: To perform an operation in the console, on the verification page, you need to insert the U2F hardware device into the computer's USB port and complete the verification by pressing the button on the key; otherwise, the operation cannot be performed.
    Enable email verification
    To perform an operation in the console, you must enter the verification code received in your inbox on the verification page; otherwise, the operation cannot be performed.
    Enable SMS verification
    To perform an operation in the console, you must enter the verification code received on your phone on the verification page; otherwise, the operation cannot be performed.

    Enabling Operation Protection

    1. Log in to the Tencent Cloud console and go to the Security Settings page. Click the edit icon next to Operation Protection to enable it.
    
    2. Complete the verification as prompted.
    3. After passing the verification, enable the appropriate protection method.
    

    Disabling Operation Protection

    1. Log in to the Tencent Cloud console and go to the Security Settings page. Click the edit icon next to Operation Protection to disable it.
    
    2. Complete the verification as prompted.
    3. After passing the verification, select Off and click OK in the pop-up window.
