Note:
Notification Method: message center, Email, SMS.
If you have previously enabled COS service, you will receive a notification. After receiving the notification, you can still use the COS service normally. You can view the change information in the pop-up of the console and confirm that you are aware of this policy update. If you have already confirmed before, please ignore. Starting from April 30, 2024: The new service suspension policy for overdue COS pay-as-you-go (postpaid) payment will become effective.
Starting from May 15, 2024: The new service suspension policy for overdue COS pay-as-you-go (postpaid) payment will begin execution.
Change Logic
One day after the account becomes overdue, the COS data has not been cleared, and the account is in the service suspension period (i.e., quarantine period) of overdue state for N days:
If N ≥ 15: Following the policy change on May 15, 2024, the data retention period will change from 120 days to 15 days. The account's COS data will be terminated. After the data termination, no further storage capacity fees will be incurred.
If N ˂ 15: Following the policy change on May 15, 2024, the data retention period will change from 120 days to 15 days. The account's COS data will continue to incur charges, generating storage capacity fees, until the data is terminated.
Note:
This change only involves the pay-as-you-go (postpaid) billing mode for COS, and does not involve resource packages (prepaid).
This change only affects accounts that enter the service suspension period (quarantine period) of overdue state after being overdue for 1 day. For details, see change logic and use cases. This change does not affect accounts in the normal state (not overdue), accounts within the protection period of of overdue state (overdue for less than 1 day), or accounts in the resource recycling period of overdue state (data already terminated).
Use Cases
Case 1: N ≥ 15 days
Xiaoyun's account became overdue on April 14, 2024. One day after the account was overdue, the data in COS was not handled, and the system will retain it for 120 days by default. Following the change of the service suspension policy for overdue COS pay-as-you-go (postpaid) payment on May 15, 2024, the default retention period for COS data in Xiaoyun's account changed to 15 days. From April 15, 2024 to May 15, 2024, there are 30 days in total. Since 30 days is longer than the default retention period of 15 days, after the change, Xiaoyun's account data will be terminated, and no further storage capacity fees will be incurred.
Case 2: N ˂ 15 days
Xiaoming's account became overdue on May 10, 2024. One day after the account was overdue, the data in COS was not handled, and the system will retain it for 120 days by default. Following the change of the service suspension policy for overdue COS pay-as-you-go (postpaid) payment on May 15, 2024, the default retention period for COS data in Xiaoming's account changed to 15 days. From May 11, 2024, to May 15, 2024, there are 5 days in total. Since 5 days is shorter than the default retention period of 15 days, after the change, Xiaoming's account data will continue to be retained for 10 more days. During the data retention period, storage capacity fees will be incurred.
