Announcement on the Subscription Price Update of RHEL on Tencent Cloud
Last updated: 2025-03-21 16:45:33

Background

Red Hat announced on January 26, 2024 that it will update the cloud pricing mode for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) starting from April 1, 2024 to better adapt to growing public cloud instance sizes and purchase modes. Therefore, the RHEL subscription prices on Tencent Cloud will be updated accordingly.

Update time: 16:00 on April 1, 2025 (UTC+8)

Change Content

The change scope covers only RHEL provided on Tencent Cloud.
Price before change: The price is based on the vCPU range of CVM instances. Each range has a fixed price.
RHEL price:
1 vCPU to 4 vCPUs: 43.00 USD/month for monthly subscription, 501.00 USD/year for yearly subscription, and 0.06 USD/hour for pay-as-you-go.
5 vCPUs or more: 95.00 USD/month for monthly subscription, 1,099.00 USD/year for yearly subscription, and 0.13 USD/hour for pay-as-you-go.
Price after change: The price is based on the vCPU range of CVM instances. The price changes linearly according to the vCPU amount for each range.
RHEL price:
1 vCPU to 8 vCPUs: 10.15 USD/vCPU/month for monthly subscription, 105.54 USD/vCPU/year for yearly subscription, and 0.015 USD/vCPU/hour for pay-as-you-go.
9 vCPUs to 127 vCPUs: 7.61 USD/vCPU/month for monthly subscription, 79.16 USD/vCPU/year for yearly subscription, and 0.0113 USD/vCPU/hour for pay-as-you-go.
128 vCPUs or more: 6.60 USD/vCPU/month for monthly subscription, 68.60 USD/vCPU/year for yearly subscription, and 0.01 USD/vCPU/hour for pay-as-you-go.

Change Impacts

After the RHEL subscription prices change, the image fee of your CVM instances based on RHEL will change. You need to determine whether the fee will be reduced or increased based on the number of vCPUs of your CVM instances. The fee changes are as follows in most cases:
For CVM instances with 12 or less vCPUs, the RHEL subscription fee will be reduced.
For CVM instances with 16 or more vCPUs, the RHEL subscription fee will be increased.

The new pricing rules will apply to all monthly subscribed and pay-as-you-go instances and will take effect in all regions where RHEL subscription is available. The pricing rules will be switched to new ones at 16:00 on April 1, 2025 (UTC+8).
For monthly subscribed instances, the original pricing rules apply if they are purchased or renewed before the switch time, and the new pricing rules apply if they are purchased or renewed after the switch time.
For pay-as-you-go instances, the original pricing rules apply if the bills are generated before the switch time, and the new pricing rules apply if the bills are generated after the switch time.
