Users can choose to use WeData in either Security Mode or Insecure Mode.
In Security Mode, Tencent Cloud WeData integrates with the Ranger permission policy system, enabling fine-grained permission control capabilities from individuals to tables, and providing permission application and approval channels, thereby securely opening data access control. This includes pre-approval, interception during events, and post-event auditing, ensuring data security from all aspects and constructing a security barrier. However, if users choose not to enable Security Mode, they will not be able to enjoy the aforementioned data security services.
Enable Security Mode
Steps to enable WeData Security Mode are as follows:
1. Enable the Ranger Component in the EMR Engine.
Users need to select the Ranger Component when purchasing the EMR Engine and enable the Ranger service in the EMR Management Console.
Note
The Ranger component is not purchased by default; it requires users to opt-in and add it.
2. When configuring the EMR storage-compute engine, the task submission account should select the Person in Charge. The configuration of the storage-compute engine is shown below.
As shown, only when the EMR engine configured for the current project has purchased and enabled the Ranger Component and the task submission account has selected the Person in Charge, the project will be in security mode and can use data security services.
Insecure Mode
Contrary to enabling Security Mode, Tencent Cloud WeData is in Insecure Mode if any of the following conditions are not met:
1. The EMR Engine has Ranger service enabled.
2. The task submission account selects the Person in Charge.
