Scheduled Performance Testing
Last updated: 2025-03-10 22:14:23

Overview

When you need to perform performance testing tasks regularly, you can use the scheduled performance testing feature, which allows you to specify the execution time, frequency, and notification recipients for the performance testing task. This document will introduce how to use the scheduled performance testing feature to help you get started quickly and initiate a scheduled performance testing.

Prerequisites

To ensure the feasibility of your performance testing tasks, you should create and debug your testing scenarios in advance. For details, see the relevant operation guide.
Create alarm contacts in advance. These alarm contacts will be used to receive notifications when performance testing tasks start and end.

Use Limits

Before using the scheduled performance testing feature, you need to be aware of the use limits of the scheduled performance testing.
A testing scenario can only be used for one scheduled performance testing task. It is recommended to create scenarios specifically for scheduled performance testing.
Testing scenarios used for scheduled performance testing tasks cannot be edited. The restriction on these scenarios will be lifted only after the scheduled performance testing tasks are deleted.

Operation Guide

1. Log in to the TCOP console.
2. In the left sidebar, click PTS > Scheduled Testing > Create Scheduled Task.
3. Go to the Create Scheduled Task page and configure the scheduled performance testing task according to the following descriptions.

Configuration Item
Description
Task Name
Custom scheduled task name.
Associated scenario
Select the scenario name you need to associate.
Execution frequency
The options of One-time Execution, Daily Granularity (executing on a specific day of the month), Weekly Granularity (executing on a specific day of the week), and Advanced Configuration (if the first three options do not meet your needs, you can use a cron expression to define the execution frequency) are supported. For details, see Execution Frequency Introduction.
Alarm Contacts
Select the corresponding alarm contact. If none, go to the Alarm Contacts page to create one for receiving notifications related to the start and end of the performance testing task.
4. After creation, you can view the basic information of your scheduled performance testing tasks in the scheduled performance testing task list. This includes details such as the associated test scenario, the execution frequency described in text form, and the task status.

If you want to quickly find a specific scheduled performance testing task, you can sort the tasks or use a fuzzy search based on the task name.
If you want to view the report of an executed performance testing task, you can click the corresponding scenario to quickly navigate to the report page.

Execution Frequency Introduction

One-time execution: You need to select a time for the performance testing task execution, and this time should be later than the current time. The scheduled performance testing task will be executed once at the specified time, and its status will be updated to Completed.
Daily granularity: If you want to execute a performance testing task on certain days of each month, you can choose the daily granularity option. For example, if you select the 2nd and 4th at 16:35 as shown in the figure, the scheduled performance testing task will be executed once at 16:35 on the 2nd and 4th of each month. Additionally, you can fill in the End Time (optional), and upon reaching this end time, the status of the scheduled performance testing task will be updated to Completed.
Weekly granularity: If you want to execute a performance testing task on certain days of each week, you can choose the weekly granularity option.
Advanced configuration: If the first three options do not meet your needs, you can directly use a cron expression to define the execution frequency (An introduction to cron expressions will be provided in the next section). As you enter the cron expression, we will check if your expression is correct, assisting you in entering it accurately. If the expression is correct, we will display the first 5 upcoming execution times, allowing you to verify whether the expression meets your needs.

Cron Expression

You can only choose to specify the performance testing execution time based on either a daily granularity or a weekly granularity. You should select one of the two options, and after specifying either daily or weekly granularity, the other input box should be filled with a ?, indicating no restriction.
Only English symbols can be used, Chinese symbols are not allowed (if you think the entry is correct but receive an error message, you can check if * and ? are in English).
When multiple values are indicated, use English commas to separate them. For example, entering 1,5 in the day input box indicates the 1st and 5th of each month.
When a range of values is indicated, use a hyphen to connect them. For example, entering 1-5 in the day input box indicates from the 1st to the 5th of every month.
When a specified frequency is indicated, use a slash to connect the values. For example, entering */2 in the day input box indicates every two days.
Example:
Execute once every 10 minutes.

Execute every half hour at 2 AM and 8 AM on the 1st to the 5th of each month. For details, see the recent 5 execution times in the figure.
